Filling the Void

J.K. Rowling\'s new bookLet’s face it. After “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” most, if not all of us, prepared ourselves for the end of the epic series. Knowing that we would no longer be able to enjoy the magical feeling of Hogwarts ever again, most of us resorted to scanning through our old books, recognizing the most important details the story had to offer. We felt a sort of Harry heartbreak, scared that the story would never continue again. This, though, is only half true. Harry Potter will never again hit the bookshelves, but the wizard world will return to our bookstores this December with the help of J.K. Rowling.

“The Tales of Beetle the Bard” may not be the story of Harry Potter exactly, but it is a book of mystical tales of the world of witches and wizards. Written and illustrated by J.K. Rowling herself, the book is set to be published on December 4, 2008. A charity group associated with Rowling hopes to make near $8 million with the new book.

The five stories in the novel were once hand-written gifts by Rowling, but when one was purchased by Amazon for a whopping $4 million, it was the perfect way to satiate everyone’s Potter hunger. The book is to cover the same legendary themes as Harry Potter, minus the familiar heroes and villians. One character makes an appearance, but seperate for the tales. Albus Dumbledore, the wise headmaster of Hogwarts, is rumored to have written a commentary in “The Tales of Beetle the Bard.” Rowling’s goodbye to the world of magic will come in a leather-bound collector’s edition for $100. It is only suitable that she lay to rest a world of fascinating oddities and awe-inspiring creatures in an elegant and meaningful style.
