Lord Voldemort was the main villain of the Harry Potter Series fantasy novels, written by J. K. Rowling. He is the representation of evil and played the part of nemesis of Harry Potter’s protagonist. The initial books remained quite clueless about who Lord Voldemort was, however, a lot of information about Lord Voldemort’s past was presented in the sixth book of the series named “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”.

Lord Voldemort’s actions and deeds are well-documented and discussed in detail in the novels. Harry Potter depicted the ‘Good’, whereas Lord Voldemort personated the ‘Bad’ in the fight between the two traits, and the final battle between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort takes place in the seventh and final book of the series named “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.

Majority of the wizarding community considers Lord Voldemort to be the ultimate practitioner of the dark magic and the greatest dark wizard in the history of magical world. Lord Voldemort had always been working for the domination of both the magical and the normal (muggle) world. In order to achieve his goal, Lord Voldemort can go to any extent murdering, torturing those who come in his way.

Lord Voldemort’s had forbade his followers and everyone else in the wizarding community to say his name aloud. However, they are allowed to refer Lord Voldemort as “He who must not be named”. Lord Voldemort’s actual name was Tom Marvolo Riddle.

In the sixth book, Albus Dumbledore takes Harry Potter along to a series of memories, in order to learn more about Lord Voldemort to be able to defeat him. In the memories, Harry Potter learned Lord Voldemort was a child of a witch and a muggle. Lord Voldemort’s mother was a member of a very ancient wizarding community but she fell in love with a muggle. However, the muggle abandoned her and she died giving birth to Lord Voldemort, who was taken to an orphanage for upbringing. Like Harry Potter, Tom Marvolo Riddle also had very troubled memories as a child. When Lord Voldemort reached of age, it was none other than Albus Dumbledore, who came over to take him to the Hogwarts.

In Lord Voldemort’s journey to achieve immortality and ultimate domination, he became more and more evil. The paths of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort crossed for the first time when Harry Potter was a one year old baby and Lord Voldemort attempted to kill him after killing his parents. Lord Voldemort was keen to kill Harry Potter because of a prophecy which suggested that Harry Potter may be the one to put an end to Lord Voldemort.

Like most of the evil characters in comics, Lord Voldemort was also far from simple and was not one dimensional. Lord Voldemort had chosen very difficult to find horcruxes to become immortal. Readers were offered insight into a very difficult past of Lord Voldemort which also created some sympathy for him in the end.
