Wizarding World sells one millionth butterbeer
Muggles have been eager to try out their favorite Harry Potter beverage, butterbeer, as part of their magical experience at Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Last week, the Orlando theme park announced they had sold their one millionth butterbeer and marked the occasion with free butterbeers for all! Wizarding World of Harry Potter gave away 1,000 butterbeers in honor of the milestone.
At Wizarding World, guests can enjoy the frothy beverage in four different locations, in either a cold or frozen variety. While walking along the streets of Hogsmeade, muggles can sip from a plastic cup which costs around $4 or they can splurge for a $10 souvenir mug to take home.
The Harry Potter theme park has kept their butterscotch, shortbread flavored butterbeer recipe a well-guarded secret but the refreshing drink has been a huge hit with J. K. Rowling and Wizarding World guests alike. Muggles don’t seem to mind waiting in line to get a taste and the prospect of a butterbeer mustache keeps the guests coming back for more.
“You can see the excitement on our guests’ faces as they wait in line – and then the smile that comes with their first sip,” said Ric Florell, general manager and senior vice president of resort revenue operations for Universal Orlando. “Butterbeer is not just a beverage. It’s an experience.”
