Harry Potter makes magic on DVD and Blu-ray
Harry Potter has worked some major magic with its DVD and Blu-ray release of the penultimate film in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. After a shortened, three-day sales period in the US since its Friday debut instead of the usual Tuesday release, Deathly Hallows Part 1 easily took the top spot on Nielsen Videoscan’s First Alert sales chart for the week, towering over The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
The magical series also managed another feat since the release of Deathly Hallows Part 1 also ushered in the other Harry Potter films onto the charts. It was Harry Potter mania as the six prior movies all showed up in the top 20 again!
Another interesting note? With the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Blu-ray combo pack boasting hours of extras, 46-percent of the Deathly Hallows sales ended up being on Blu-ray. Not too surprising since the Blu-ray also featured an opening scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2!
Did you get your hands on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 DVD or Blu-ray? What did you think of all the fantastical extras and the finale sneak peek?
