Videos: Matthew Lewis and Jason Isaacs discuss Deathly Hallows Part 2

May 31st, 2011 by Jill Amos

Harry Potter stars Matthew Lewis and Jason Isaacs, who embody Neville Longbottom and Lucius Malfoy on the big screen, chatted about the final film and more with Empire Magazine. Matthew Lewis dishes about his character’s heroic turn in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 while Jason Isaacs’ Lucius Malfoy has a decidedly different journey. He talks about how the Death Eater becomes broken down with his little stint in Azkaban and the return and rise of Voldemort.

While Matthew Lewis only had one short but memorable line in Deathly Hallows Part 1, playing the role of Neville as a leader of sorts in the final film was a thrill for the 21-year-old actor.

New Harry Potter character posters for Draco Malfoy and Snape!

May 31st, 2011 by Jill Amos

After debuting Voldemort on Friday, the Harry Potter Twitter page has revealed two new character posters, both of which are fan favorites with sometimes murky intentions. Draco Malfoy (played by Tom Felton) and Snape (played by Alan Rickman) are the latest to star in new posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

In these newest Harry Potter posters, both characters are surrounded by the blazing embers that we’ve seen in all the posters so far, which must surely symbolize the destruction of our beloved Hogwarts. Behind Draco, the great magical school lies in remnants, with crumbling walls and broken columns littering the ground. Check out the full-sized pics on the next page and stay tuned for more posters!

The Weasley family takes the spotlight

May 30th, 2011 by Jill Amos

What’s one of the most anticipated scenes in the upcoming film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2? Harry taking on Voldemort? Ron and Hermione’s kiss? Well, for many fans, one of the most exciting moments to come is when Mrs. Weasley sheds her nurturing nature to battle the wild-eyed Bellatrix Lestrange.

In Empire Magazine’s new Harry Potter special edition, Julie Walters (who plays Mrs. Weasley) talks about her showdown with Bella, played by Helena Bonham Carter, and a certain b-word phrase that her character yells in the heat of the battle.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 is Mrs. Weasley’s big moment. She’s right in the middle of the Battle of Hogwarts. The battle is huge, painful and heroic for her. Before we’ve seen a very sweet mum, and this earthy sort of presence even though she’s a wizard. But you see another side to her. It’s a very physical role this time out,” Julie Walters said. “And she has one of the most famous lines in the books. Everyone wrote to me and said, ‘I HOPE they’re NOT going to take THAT out, are they?!’”

Voldemort glares in new Harry Potter poster

May 27th, 2011 by Jill Amos

Lord Voldemort, the man who started it all, takes his turn on today’s new Harry Potter character poster. His evil glare and snake-like nose are all the more sinister in this close-up shot of You-Know-Who, in anticipation of the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

In the new portrait, Voldemort grasps on to the Elder Wand as Hogwarts crumbles behind him, but does anyone else see just a hint of fear in his eyes as Harry and friends are closing in on destroying his Horcruxes?

The Harry Potter Twitter caption for the Voldemort poster reads:

“Join me, and confront your fate.” – Voldemort

See the full size poster on the next page (if you dare!) and also check out a Voldemort video!

After rolling out the main trio of stars — Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint — in the new Harry Potter character posters, Matthew Lewis gets his moment in the spotlight! As Neville Longbottom, Lewis takes center stage in the character portrait and demonstrates firsthand how the epic battle has changed him from an apple-cheeked tyke into a fierce young fighter.

During the Battle of Hogwarts, Longbottom shows his true heroic nature when he uses the famed Sword of Gryffindor in the climactic showdown between You-Know-Who and Harry Potter.

Harry Potter in a word video, plus the third Deathly Hallows Part 2 TV spot!

May 26th, 2011 by Jill Amos

The stars of Harry Potter had the difficult task of summing up their experience in just one single word. In a new video from Empire Magazine (whose special Harry Potter issue is out today!), Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and many more fabulous Harry Potter actors attempt to capture the magic in a solitary word.

Some succeed and others struggle. Robbie Coltrane’s lone word was related to his Hagrid costume while Jason Isaacs snuck in two words to describe his Harry Potter experience. What word did Bonnie Wright and Tom Felton choose and what word would you pick? Watch the video below!

Alan Rickman’s touching goodbye

May 25th, 2011 by Jill Amos

How do you say goodbye to Harry Potter? As many of us struggle with that very thought, actor Alan Rickman eloquently wrote about moving on from the magical film series. In a letter in Empire Magazine’s special Harry Potter edition, Rickman writes a touching farewell to the series, thanking above all else, J.K. Rowling.

As Severus Snape on the big screen, Alan Rickman has had to travel a difficult journey as he didn’t always know what was in store for the potions master. Rowling herself apparently gave Rickman a clue as to where Snape’s loyalties would lie in the end. Read Rickman’s letter on the next page!

Tom Felton talks ‘Auntie Bella’ and Deathly Hallows

May 25th, 2011 by Jill Amos

Actor Tom Felton has come full circle from his first days on the Harry Potter set until the bittersweet end of filming. In a new interview with Empire Magazine, the 23-year-old star who has played the conflicted Draco Malfoy revealed his final scenes on the Harry Potter film and how he felt incredibly emotional after his last shot.

“One of my last scenes as a group was us, 19 years on, on the platform at King’s Cross. That was really quite fitting, because one of my first scenes was as a 10-year-old being put on the train there, 10 years ago literally to the day, so it was really weird and suitable that that fit. My very last one was a night shoot on 2nd unit just by myself. I was shot walking away after the battle, I believe, so again, that was really nice because there’s always a tighter feeling with the 2nd unit crew.”

Rupert Grint chats Harry Potter and ‘Ron-pert’

May 25th, 2011 by Jill Amos

Empire Magazine is gearing up for the magical finale with a 36-page spread in their May 26 issue that is dedicated to Harry Potter and the July 15 debut of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. In a new interview with the magazine, Rupert Grint talked about filming the final Harry Potter movie and what is was like to have the set literally fall apart around them during the battle scenes.

Rupert Grint also dished about how over the years he and his character Ron Weasley have fused into one person. The 22-year-old actor welcomed the chance to dig deeper into Ron’s darker side in the final film when faced with the epic showdown between good and evil.

“In previous films Ron was usually quite scared all the time, that was always kind of him, but it was great to see that there was a lot more heavy emotion. Because he really falls in love, so there’s all that story, and that really develops in Part Two particularly. And then there’s the family stuff as well. There are some quite dark things that I never really got before with Ron,” Rupert said.

Ron Weasley’s character poster debuts!

May 25th, 2011 by Jill Amos

Ron Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, takes front and center in the newest Harry Potter character poster which debuted on the Harry Potter Twitter page. Just as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger wore determined and battle-weary expressions in their character posters, Ron Weasley looks decidedly fierce, blue eyes glinting furiously.

No wonder Ron Weasley seems so focused since behind him is the cursed fire! In the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 trailers, Ron and Hermione are seen frantically running from the dragon-headed Fiendfyre that’s hot on their heels in the Room of Requirement. See the ferocious fire dragon in the larger poster on the next page!

Ron Weasley’s character poster was introduced with the caption:

“We can end this.” – Ron
