Harry Potter magic vs. Twilight vamps at the Teen Choice Awards

Harry Potter is once again facing the vampires of Twilight in another movie showdown at the Teen Choice Awards. During their last awards show battle at the MTV Movie Awards, Twilight came out on top but Harry Potter fans have another chance to take down that other popular supernatural teen series with this latest battle.

Harry Potter was nominated for a total of five Teen Choice Awards, including the biggie: Choice Movie: Sci-Fi/Fantasy, where The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will go face-to-face with the penultimate Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Who else was nominated against the mega-supernatural movie series? Super 8, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and X-Men: First Class.

Which Harry Potter costar was Emma Watson’s first crush?

Emma Watson, who embodies Hermione Granger on the big screen, is the go-to girl for magazine covers this month. Recently she graced the cover of Vogue and now the 21-year-old Harry Potter star shines on the front of Seventeen magazine’s August issue.

The actress/fashion designer revealed some juicy tidbits about her dating life while dishing who her first crush was. Was it Daniel Radcliffe? Maybe as fate would have it Rupert Grint? Neither of the above actually. Emma Watson’s first crush was none other than Tom Felton, who plays blond-headed baddie Draco Malfoy!

“For the first two movies, I had a huge crush on Tom Felton. He was my first crush. He totally knows. We talked about it — we still laugh about it,” Watson told Seventeen. “We are really good friends now, and that’s cool.”

Harry Potter stars in CNN special!

A slew of Harry Potter stars will be featured on an upcoming CNN special with Larry King! Find out what Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Helena Bonham Carter and Robbie Coltrane have to say about the last film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Daniel Radcliffe says the last Harry Potter film is one “hell of a movie,” and reveals that on the last day of filming he “wept like a child,” while Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, calls the end of filming “quite a big kind of shock.”

Harry Potter mania: New posters and video!

New character posters for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 have hit the net and they take the battle-weary crew to the next level. After seeing the Harry Potter action shots of the stars with their wands at the ready, these newest pics show their more contemplative moments amid the fiery Battle of Hogwarts.

Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley stand among the rubble and burning embers with their wands at their sides with the exception of Harry who grasps on to two wands — the Elder wand and Draco’s wand. Voldemort also is featured in all his wickedness looking like he is contemplating his next unforgivable curse. Check them out in all their glory below!

What tops Daniel Radcliffe’s reading list?

No surprise that Daniel Radcliffe has long been an advocate of reading as he is the central star in the Harry Potter series, based on J.K. Rowling’s books that have sold a staggering 450 million copies. Radcliffe has starred in posters to promote reading in the past and the 21-year-old star recently revealed his top five must-reads to Scholastic. Did Harry Potter make the cut?

In addition to Daniel, Harry Potter star Emma Thompson (Sybill Trelawney) also dished her top five influential books, including The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner, The Tale of Samuel Whiskers by Beatrix Potter, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Middlemarch by George Eliot and The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Daniel Radcliffe’s list of his five most influential books was revealed as part of Scholastic’s latest campaign — You Are What You Read. Check out his list, plus his explanations, after the jump!

More Pottermore details and photos!

Having trouble submitting your email at Pottermore? Not surprising since J.K. Rowling’s newest online venture received over a million hits within 36 hours after it was first announced last week. The newest numbers are sure to be staggering.

After making a big announcement earlier this morning about Pottermore, more details and photos (see below) about the mysterious new website are beginning to emerge. When Pottermore officially launches in October, only the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, will be available for the new interactive experience. The second, Chamber of Secrets, will go online in the early part of 2012 with the rest to gradually follow.

J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore is…

When Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling announced that she had a new project called Pottermore last week, fans were sent into a fevered frenzy wondering what was to come. Was Pottermore a Harry Potter encyclopedia of sorts? A multi-player game? Maybe a scavenger hunt?

Well, wonder no more. The owls have gathered and spilled their secrets. This morning, J.K. Rowling put all the rumors to rest when she took to YouTube to make a very special announcement, followed by a press conference. (See the video below!) Pottermore is “a free website that builds an exciting online experience around the reading of the Harry Potter books.”

Stunning new Deathly Hallows Part 2 set photos!

Harry Potter production designer Stuart Craig has been on the set since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and is credited with much of the iconic and beloved scenery that gives Harry Potter films their magic. The Oscar winner has shared some behind-the-scenes photos from the much anticipated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with Architectural Digest.

Fans get a closer look at Shell Cottage (sigh, don’t you just want to live there?), Dumbledore’s office, Gringotts bank, Honeydukes and more in the new spread, including the new boat house that will reportedly be the setting for a certain beloved character’s death. And Craig offers his invaluable insight on each stunning photo.
